Description
Sōji Mitsuka, a student at Yogetsu High School, possesses an intense childhood obsession with twintail hairstyles that shapes his worldview. This fixation drives him to found the "Twin Tails Admirers" club. His routine shatters when alien monsters, the Ultimagills or Elemelians, invade Earth to harvest "attribute power"—spiritual energy tied to human traits like hairstyles. During an attack targeting school council president Erina Shindō, Sōji encounters Twoearle, a mysterious girl from another world. She provides him with "Tail Gear," imaginary armor activated by his strong twintail attributes. This device transforms him into Tail Red, a petite, pre-adolescent girl warrior standing 128-129 cm tall, distinguished by long fiery twintails. Despite initial shock, he embraces this role to protect twintails worldwide.

As Tail Red, Sōji wields superhuman strength, agility, and combat skill despite his youthful appearance. His primary weapon is the Blazer Blade, a fiery sword summoned from his hair ribbons. His strongest attack, the homing energy beam "Aura Pillar," activates involuntarily during emotional distress. Over time, he gains upgraded forms: **Riser Chain** (enhanced strength), **Faller Chain** (enhanced speed), **Felleraiser Chain** (combined speed and strength), **Ultimate Chain** (achieved via dual Tail Gear braces), and **Gold Chain**, enabling him to face increasingly powerful foes.

Sōji's personality blends a strong sense of justice with lightheartedness. While transformed, he retains male speech patterns (using the pronoun "ore") but occasionally displays private young girl mannerisms, like playing with his twintails. He initially feels embarrassed by Tail Red's widespread popularity, contrasting his unremarkable civilian identity. A pivotal moment occurs when Dark Grasper (Isuna) kisses Tail Red, causing Sōji to question his devotion to twintails and shift focus towards female figures. This perceived "betrayal" weakens his abilities and triggers a Tail Gear malfunction, resulting in a permanent partial transformation called **Sōlar** (146 cm tall). This later evolves into **Sōra Mitsuka**, a fully female teenage version with no connection to Tail Red. This identity shift leads him to explore bigender experiences, which he eventually accepts as part of his life with support from friends and family.

Key relationships include his childhood friend Aika Tsube (Tail Blue), whom he views platonically despite her romantic feelings; Twoearle (Tail White), who admires his dedication; Erina Shindō (Tail Yellow), who develops a masochistic attachment to him; and his mother Miharu, who openly supports his romantic pursuits. His birthday on February 2 coincides with "Twintail Day" in Japan, reinforcing his thematic connection to the hairstyle.
