Description
Kiriko Hattori, a ninja raised under Iga Village's strict discipline alongside her adopted brother Keiichiro Tokugawa, executed assassination and espionage missions with cold-blooded efficiency, prioritizing loyalty to the Tokugawa Shogun family above all. This focus, particularly against Houkouin-orchestrated targets, fostered a lack of human sympathy, frequently causing conflict with Keiichiro.

Her past holds deep tragedy. Brought to Iga Village with her brother, the village's ancient laws forbade emotional bonds like sibling affection. This prohibition culminated in his self-inflicted death before her eyes, an event Kiriko blamed herself for, cementing her emotional detachment. Her childhood friend Sutemaru, prince of Iga, later reminded her the tragedy wasn't her fault, though the guilt remained impactful.

Initially defined by emotional reserve and unwavering mission focus, Kiriko demonstrated formidable combat proficiency, notably employing the specialized "Hanashibu" technique to paralyze targets through rapid groping that induced intense ecstasy. This technique effectively shifted allegiances, like with Tsubaki. Despite her skills, she often found herself in peril, requiring rescue from adversaries like Houkouin or the Shinsengumi; Houkouin subjected her to sexual assault while she was bound and imprisoned.

Her relationship with Keiichiro Tokugawa forms her core character arc. Tasked with protecting him as the Tokugawa heir and pilot of the virginity-powered Onigami Susanoo, Kiriko actively enforced his "Can't Have Sex, Ever" condition, alongside general guardianship and combat support. While initially part of a potential harem dynamic, her role solidified as the primary female lead. Her connection with Keiichiro evolved beyond duty, hinted by Sutemaru's observation that she prioritized staying by his side over returning to Iga or starting anew.

Sutemaru revealed aspects of Kiriko's past and personality, disclosing Iga Village's destruction by Shigeyoshi Hitotsubashi's forces and the Shinsengumi, framed as retaliation for Kiriko's past actions. He expressed romantic feelings, offering escape, but Kiriko declined, stating disinterest in a relationship and reaffirming her commitment to Keiichiro. Sutemaru ultimately respected her choice, entrusting Keiichiro with her protection.

Visually, Kiriko possesses a beautiful, voluptuous figure with dark brown hair and green eyes. She is commonly depicted in two outfits: a practical yet revealing dark-colored ninja bodysuit for combat and a traditional kimono. These designs appear across the anime series, Shunya Yamashita's concept art, promotional materials, and the planned 3D film reboot.

Her character development involves a gradual softening of her rigid emotional state, influenced by her deepening bond with Keiichiro and exposure to his resolve to protect others, contrasting her initial pragmatism. While beginning as a capable fighter, her effectiveness diminished as the series progressed, leading to frequent damsel-in-distress scenarios. Her core dedication shifted from blind Tokugawa allegiance towards a personal commitment to Keiichiro's safety and goals.
