Description
Megumi Yoshikawa is an original first-generation member of the prominent rival idol group I-1 Club. Nicknamed "Yoshimegu" within the group, she ranks among its most popular members. Her background includes a long-standing friendship with Mayu Shimada, forged during their time together in I-1 Club's first generation. This bond persists even after Mayu departs I-1 Club and joins Wake Up, Girls!.
Megumi embodies positivity and support. She openly maintains communication with Mayu, sending text updates about I-1 Club's activities. Within I-1 Club, she frequently acts as a peacemaker, defending Mayu against skepticism from members like Shiho Iwasaki or Moka Suzuki. She demonstrates genuine care for teammates, notably attempting to cheer up Shiho when she blames herself for group setbacks. Megumi also displays unwavering support for Wake Up, Girls!, openly praising their performances despite the rivalry.
Her franchise involvement is extensive. In *Wake Up, Girls! Seven Idols*, she appears early during an I-1 Club ritual. A flashback reveals her emotional support for Mayu when Mayu is dismissed after losing a center position sales battle to Shiho; Megumi cries with her and offers to defend her to the group's president. Later, she is the sole member defending Mayu's decision to join Wake Up, Girls! during a team discussion. During the main *Wake Up, Girls!* television series, Megumi encounters Mayu and the group after a Sendai concert meet-and-greet. She openly affirms her friendship with Mayu and nearly argues with Shiho over Wake Up, Girls!'s status. She later invites Mayu for a meal during the 2014 Idol Festival and ultimately praises Wake Up, Girls!'s "7 Girls War" performance alongside her teammates.
In *Wake Up, Girls! Shadow of Youth*, Megumi participates in I-1 Club discussions about tabloid stories on their single sales. She observes Shiho's changed mood and attempts to lift her spirits after Shiho takes responsibility for sales performance. Her role in *Wake Up, Girls! Beyond the Bottom* includes expressing concern with Mai Kondo following Shiho's demotion to Hakata. Worried about Shiho's well-being due to lack of communication, Megumi contacts Mayu while Wake Up, Girls! tour Hakata. She later expresses excitement about reuniting with Shiho and Mayu during rehearsals for the 2015 Idol Festival, where I-1 Club performs "Tomaranai Mirai" but loses to Wake Up, Girls!.
Physically, Megumi is notably short, the second shortest among main I-1 Club members. She has medium-length black hair, typically worn with a distinctive hot pink hair clip (appearing more purple-pink in *New Chapter*), and brown eyes. Her standard training outfit consists of a light pink blouse t-shirt with a vibrant bow and frilly shoulders, a burgundy skort, high white socks, and white trainers. Her performance costumes for events like the 2016 Idol Festival and subsequent appearances differ from this training attire.
