Maon Sakurada is a high school student central to the narrative, originally from Osaki-Shiomachi Island in Mitarai where her family runs a ryokan. To overcome pronounced shyness and social difficulties, she moved to Takehara during middle school, living in an apartment managed by one of her aunts.

Initially struggling to connect, Maon found her first friend in Takehara, Norie Okazaki. Through Norie, she gradually joined the friend group with Fuu Sawatari and Kaoru Hanawa.
