Description
Shizuyo Fujiwara, mother to Asuka and Naoto Fujiwara, openly favors her son Naoto while harboring resentment toward her daughter Asuka. This manifests in physical and mental abuse against Asuka, rooted in Shizuyo's unhealed childhood trauma, perpetuating a cycle of intergenerational pain. Her actions directly fuel Asuka's psychological distress, exemplified when Shizuyo forgets Asuka’s 12th birthday, returns home intoxicated, and unleashes verbal abuse. During this confrontation, Shizuyo laments within Asuka’s earshot, "Why in hell did I have Asuka?"—a trauma that renders Asuka temporarily voiceless.
Later, Shizuyo confronts her past, recognizing her own childhood suffering. This sparks an acknowledgment of her mistreatment of Asuka and initiates her character development toward breaking the abuse cycle. Her journey entails facing her role in perpetuating familial trauma and striving to mend the damage inflicted.
