Description
Bocchi Hitori is a middle school student with extreme social anxiety, experiencing physical symptoms like vomiting, leg cramps, and fainting when overwhelmed or nervous. Her social struggles stem from difficulty communicating, leading her to create conversation scripts that often fail. Despite this, she possesses a kind and earnest personality, frequently crying but showing determination to improve her social skills.
A pivotal moment before middle school involved her only childhood friend, Kai Yawara, severing their friendship to motivate Bocchi to befriend her entire class. This directive drives Bocchi's actions. She shares the same birthday as Kai. Academically, Bocchi excels in studying and learning, though she failed to gain admission to Kai's school due to an inability to participate in a frontal audition.
