Description
Colress, a scientist affiliated with Team Plasma, possesses blonde hair, yellow eyes, and distinctive glasses. He wears a long white lab coat, white gloves, a black uniform with blue outlines, and black shoes. His research centers on unlocking Pokémon's latent power, adopting a more antagonistic and manipulative approach than his game counterpart. He believes a Pokémon's true strength emerges through heightened aggression and anger, often induced artificially.

Initially operating from an abandoned observatory near Floccesy Town, Colress conducted experiments using electromagnetic (EM) waves broadcast from a large machine. These waves resonated with devices attached to wild Pokémon, increasing their aggression and attack power while rendering them subservient to Team Plasma commands. This experiment inadvertently caused local Pokémon to attack Floccesy Town, alerting Ash Ketchum, his companions, and Interpol agent Looker. During their confrontation, Colress tested his mind-controlled Pokémon against the group and implanted a device on Pikachu, forcing it to attack Ash. Ash's encouragement enabled Pikachu to resist and break the device, surprising Colress. Following Team Rocket's theft of his research data, Colress destroyed the observatory with a self-destruct mechanism to eliminate evidence before retreating.

After this setback, Colress upgraded his technology, replacing the EM wave system with a narrow energy beam capable of instantly controlling any Pokémon it struck. Using this improved device, he took control of a Haxorus and later Iris's Dragonite during a city rampage, testing their enhanced capabilities against Ash and his friends. He reiterated his goal of revealing Pokémon's "true potential" to N. Team Rocket intervened, attempting to steal the machine, but their battle with Team Plasma operatives accidentally damaged the device, freeing the controlled Pokémon and forcing Colress to retreat again. Despite this failure, he remained confident in his machine's functionality and continued collaborating with Team Plasma leaders Aldith and Ghetsis, though he occasionally questioned Ghetsis's motives regarding N.

Colress later faced Team Rocket directly when they infiltrated his laboratory. After Team Rocket diverted his security forces, Meowth attempted to recruit him, suggesting dissatisfaction with Team Plasma. Colress declined and instead used his machine to take control of Meowth, demonstrating significantly amplified battle prowess. Jessie and James eventually freed Meowth. Subsequently, Colress participated in Team Plasma's operation at the White Ruins, deploying his perfected machine to seize control of workers' Pokémon and turn them against their trainers. He nearly succeeded in controlling Pikachu again and aided Ghetsis in securing the Light Stone.

During the climax at the White Ruins, Colress took control of the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram after Ghetsis summoned it, believing he was awakening its true power. When Ash and Pikachu resisted, he attempted to control Pikachu once more, but Meowth intervened. Though he briefly regained control of Pikachu, the Pokémon resisted the influence and, alongside Reshiram, destroyed Colress's machine permanently, freeing all controlled Pokémon. Defeated, Colress attempted to escape with Ghetsis but was immobilized by combined attacks from Dragonite, Crustle, and Krokorok. He and other Team Plasma members were subsequently arrested by Looker, leading to the organization's disbandment. Upon his arrest, Colress mentioned his next project would involve developing a device for human-Pokémon communication.
