Movie
Description
My Melody is a white anthropomorphic rabbit from Mari Land's magical realm, instantly recognizable by her pink hood—crafted by her grandmother—which drapes over her ears, leaving the left ear down and the right ear adorned with a white flower. Her design features large oval-shaped black eyes and a small yellow nose. She embodies a cheerful, gentle, and highly optimistic personality, often displaying naivety and obliviousness to negativity or others' hostility. Favorite activities include baking almond pound cake with her mother, picking flowers, and calming herself with tea during stress. Common expressions are "Yaaan!" when startled and "Aryama!" ("Oh my gosh!") in surprise.

Her Mari Land family includes her mother (Mama), father (Papa), younger brother (Rhythm), grandparents, and cousin Littleforestfellow. Close friendships bind her to the mouse Flat and the sheep My Sweet Piano. Her relationship with fellow resident Kuromi is complex; Kuromi deems My Melody an eternal rival due to perceived past slights and unintentional provocations, yet My Melody consistently views Kuromi as a friend, remaining unaware of her hostility—a dynamic central to their interactions.

As Mari Land's Crown Princess, she protects both Mari Land and the human world from threats like the Spirit of Dark Power. Magic flows through artifacts bestowed by the Mari Land monarchy: the Melody Takt (conductor's baton), the Melody Box (storing Pink Notes), and Melody Candies (reverting enchanted objects). Her signature technique places a heart-shaped "Melody Mark" sticker on objects or beings, animating them or compelling assistance. When allies falter, her catchphrase "[Name], onegai?" ("Please?") or strengthened pleas like "Pretty please with sugar on top?" boosts their capabilities, often causing blushing and renewed vigor. Melody Candies dispel the magic afterward.

Her magic evolves across storylines. The prologue *Kirara★* sees her using a Heart and Star Pendant for costume changes to solve problems. Later, in *Kuru Kuru Shuffle!*, the Melody Mark summons random allies via cards, while *Sukkiri♪* requires drawing helpers—a challenge initially due to her lack of artistic skill, aided by magical crayons. *Sukkiri♪* also introduces a "refresh" ability to counter dark magic turning beings into "Huff-Huffs." A significant weakness is ear-pulling sensitivity, which can incapacitate her, though she trains to mitigate it.

In the movie *Onegai My Melody Yū & Ai*, set before *Jewelpet the Movie: Sweets Dance Princess*, she attends a Mari Land summer barbecue, recounting improved cooperation with Kuromi amidst their friction. This narrative is non-canonical to the main *Onegai My Melody* timeline.

Beyond her series, she appears in other media: as a summoned plush alongside Hello Kitty in *Jewelpet Magical Change*; running the "Small Gift Big Smile" shop with a closer Kuromi friendship in *Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures*; and starring with Kuromi in the announced 2025 Netflix stop-motion series *My Melody & Kuromi*, a joint 50th and 20th anniversary celebration.
