Description
Colette Brunel, the seventh Chosen of Sylvarant, was born in Iselia with a Cruxis Crystal marking her fate to restore mana to her world by ascending the Tower of Salvation and transforming into an angel—a sacrifice destined to trigger Tethe’alla’s decline. Raised by adoptive parents, she embraced her role’s fatal conclusion from childhood, cultivating a selfless resolve while masking her fears from companions like Lloyd Irving and Genis Sage.

Her quest demanded the release of five seals across Sylvarant, a process that eroded her humanity, stripping her of taste, touch, and speech. Though she concealed these losses, Lloyd’s discovery spurred their group to seek alternatives to her demise. At the Tower, Cruxis exploited her as a vessel for Martel’s rebirth, severing her memories and heart until allies intervened. A Key Crest within Lloyd’s necklace revived her consciousness, but she contracted Chronic Angelus Crystallus Inofficium, her body slowly crystallizing.

In Tethe’alla, her deterioration intensified—collapses and spreading crystal drew Rodyle’s attention, leading to capture and his condemnation of her as a failed Chosen. Rescued and cured in Welgaia, she confronted Mithos Yggdrasill’s machinations, enduring a forced fusion with Martel. Through this bond, Martel’s spirit channeled her brother’s sister’s yearning for peace, galvanizing the party to unite both worlds.

Her bond with Lloyd anchored her journey, their mutual support shining during his struggles with Kratos’s paternal revelation. She later championed Lloyd’s vision of a world free of predetermined sacrifice, a conviction tested when Mithos’s Cruxis Crystal sought to possess her. Though she briefly resisted, her resolve crystallized their shared defiance.

Media portrayals highlighted her clumsy charm and cheerful facade, which belied inner turmoil yet yielded unintended advantages—triggering traps that aided allies or disarming foes like Sheena Fujibayashi through relentless kindness. Spin-offs and crossovers echoed her sacrificial ethos, while the Tethe’alla OVA rendered her crystallization and Martel’s possession with visceral grit. Even as Pronyma’s schemes reduced her to a tool, her defiance during Mithos’s defeat reaffirmed her enduring agency, cementing her legacy as a bridge between fractured worlds.
