He enforces fear by staging public executions, retaliating against dissent—exemplified by Chocolat’s mother’s punishment after her daughter’s defiance.

When confronting the protagonists, he seeks their capture to elevate his status among the Desians but withdraws after injury, delegating combat to subordinates.
