Description
Born January 5, 1968, in the mountain town of Jouga-machi, Nemuru Kushinada is the sole daughter and heir of the influential Kushinada clan, holders of significant local political power. She possesses purple hair and eyes, pale skin, and stands 152 cm tall with measurements of B77-W51-H80. Her typical attire features a white shirt, red tie, and skirt for school, accented by a red ribbon in her hair with a pinwheel-like bow. When acting as the clan's Hunter, she dons a ceremonial outfit with a wolf mask and wields a large, ornate scythe decorated with Shinto charms and bells, her hair turning white and eyes glowing red during this transformation.

Her Hunter duty requires patrolling Jouga at night to identify and execute "Fallen" kamibito—residents with enhanced abilities and wolf-like traits who have succumbed to addiction-induced insanity after exposure to pheromones from rare humans called "Temptations." This assassination role, rooted in ancient religious law, forces her to commit violence against her own kind, inflicting severe psychological toll and internal conflict. Despite this burden, she maintains an unwavering commitment to cleanliness and order, often meticulously cleaning her classroom and school environments independently.

Initially, Nemuru greets Hiroshi Kuzumi, a powerful new transfer student and Temptation, with cold hostility, perceiving his potent scent as a destabilizing force that attracts kamibito. She warns him to avoid Jouga's old streets. Her motivations shift, however, as she seeks to protect him by eliminating kamibito addicted to his scent. A pivotal moment occurs when trapped together; Nemuru nearly succumbs to his pheromones but resists kissing him, demonstrating increasing control. Their relationship evolves significantly, culminating in Hiroshi using her first name and her integration into his social circle.

Her development intensifies upon discovering town leaders plot Hiroshi's assassination via Shunichirō Sakaki—a vengeful Temptation whose girlfriend Nemuru executed. Defying her family and escaping house arrest, she confronts Sakaki at a construction site to stop the murder. Though initially overpowered, she later plays a critical role in foiling Sakaki's plan to flood Jouga during the Hassaku Festival. She confronts him at a dam, offering her life to spare the town, though this sacrifice is averted. Post-conflict, with the town adopting a vaccine suppressing kamibito urges and rendering her assassin role obsolete, she reconciles with her duties. She forges closer bonds with Hiroshi, his sister Mana (to whom she gifts an Usaeru doll after noticing Mana's affection for it), and their friends Isuzu and Kaname.

Outside her duties, Nemuru exhibits a fondness for the pink rabbit-like Usaeru doll, even cosplaying as it during a festival, revealing a capacity for innocence amid her burdens. Reserved and academically gifted—rumored to be her school's top student—her relationships extend beyond Hiroshi; she shares a quiet camaraderie with Mana, assisting her after a near-accident with her wheelchair. Nemuru's journey concludes embracing a life beyond her clan's legacy, choosing connection over enforced isolation.
