Description
Kanon Hatori arrives at Saint Ringo Elementary School as a transfer student from Vladonia in Eastern Europe. She belongs to the Bat Animalian race, capable of shifting between human and bat forms. Her mother, Misa Hatori, a Black Panther Animalian, leads the "World Heritage Project" seeking to expand Animalian influence. Kanon's mission involves recruiting supporters for this cause, specifically targeting Tamao Kijima due to his status as the mayor's son. To gain classmates' favor, she initially presents a charming and refined persona, showcasing culinary skills, though this masks her true impatient and egocentric nature.

Physiologically tied to her bat heritage, Kanon constantly carries a parasol due to extreme sunlight sensitivity. She develops unexpected romantic feelings for Ken Inomata after hearing him sing, mistakenly believing him a fellow Bat Animalian. Discovering he transforms into a rat using a Kirumin device doesn't deter her; she remains convinced he possesses latent Animalian potential. Her interactions with the Mikogami sisters' detective club are adversarial, viewing them as obstacles, yet she privately envies their close family bonds—a stark contrast to her own transactional relationship with her revolution-focused mother.

Over time, Kanon exhibits reluctant cooperation with the detective club during crises, particularly those involving the antagonist Kyousuke Futatsugi after his betrayal of the Animalians. Her character evolves from scheming manipulator to showing genuine concern, especially for Ken, culminating in her breakdown when he temporarily loses human consciousness after exceeding transformation limits. A late-series familial revelation discloses Kanon as a cousin to the Mikogami sisters, explaining their shared Animalian heritage. Following the resolution of Futatsugi's conflict, Kanon and her mother abandon their revolutionary plans and return to Vladonia to reconcile with her estranged father.
