Description
Misa Hatori commands the Animalian revolution and orchestrates the World Heritage Project, aiming to transform Kamihama into a nature reserve as the first step towards global Animalian dominance. She asserts Animalians are the superior race, the pinnacle of evolution after enduring human oppression, capable of transforming humans through biting. A black panther Animalian originating from Eastern Europe, she is Kanon Hatori's mother.
Her longstanding conflict with Haruka Mikogami stems partly from her mother's foundational research on interspecies communication, which contributed to the Kirumin devices later developed by Yuuki Mikogami. Misa warns Haruka against interference upon arriving in Japan. She arranged Kanon's marriage to Shiro Hatori to preserve pure Animalian bloodlines, conflicting with Kanon's romantic interests.
Misa exhibits a dominant, strategic personality, frequently expressing frustration at her subordinate Kibagumi group's incompetence in recruiting. She demands strict obedience, disciplining them harshly, reflecting her authoritarian leadership. Her physical appearance is distinguished by a collection of eyepatches worn over her functional left eye.
Her initial role as primary antagonist pivots upon discovering Kyousuke Futatsugi as the true mastermind behind Kamihama's transformation and the testing of Animalian conversion gases. Futatsugi manipulated her trust to advance his own agenda, including a personal vendetta against the Mikogami family stemming from romantic rejection decades earlier. Misa and her followers abandon Futatsugi's cause upon this revelation.
The series finale reveals she is the sisters' aunt, making Kanon their cousin, though the exact familial connection remains unspecified. Misa concludes her arc by returning to Vladonia with Kanon to reconcile with Shiro Hatori, while her Kibagumi subordinates remain in Kamihama. Her motivation throughout ties back to a 25-year plan for Animalian revolution, initially unaware Futatsugi exploited her ambitions for his experiments.
