Tousuke Aoki is Shinko Aoki's father and a member of the Aoki family household in rural Yamaguchi Prefecture during 1955. He lives with his wife Nagako, their daughters Shinko and Mitsuko, and Nagako's father, Kotaro. The family sustains themselves through farming, cultivating durum wheat and rice. Beyond managing the family farm, Tousuke is employed at the University of Yamaguchi.
