Description
Peter Stevens, an engineer and doctor, pioneered the cold sleep capsules integral to preserving those infected with the Medusa virus. His research faced early financial hurdles until the shadowy Venus Gate organization funded his team, enabling stable prototypes. Yet upon completion, Venus Gate severed him from the project, handing authority to its clandestine Level 4 division. This dismissal ignited a bitter obsession to reclaim his invention and expose Level 4’s mysteries.

His probing into Level 4 triggered capture by Venus Gate, who infected him with Medusa. Awakening in a crumbling facility swarming with horrors, he posed as a composed ally, guiding survivors using his knowledge of the complex. Unbeknownst to them, Zeus—a rogue Venus Gate hacker—had implanted a mind-control mechanism, coercing him to betray the group. Forced to abduct Kasumi Ishiki for a data-critical laptop, he perished when the facility collapsed mid-pursuit.

Resurrected by the virus as a insect-ridden monstrosity, he sought his original capsule but fell to Zeus in a final clash.

The film adaptation alters his fate: though equally embittered toward Venus Gate, he sacrifices himself to a monster to save Kasumi, diverging from his manga counterpart’s villainous resurrection arc.

Consistently portrayed as polite yet fiercely intellectual, Stevens’ quiet resolve to rectify his work’s appropriation highlights the narrative’s tensions between ambition, ethics, and retribution. His forced alliance with Venus Gate and tragic undoing frame a cautionary arc on hubris and exploitation.
