Description
Ivan Coral Vega, a former Russian interior ministry official whose actions raised concerns, founded the Venus Gate cult. He interpreted the extraterrestrial Medusa phenomenon as a divine gift. As Venus Gate's leader, Vega publicly launched the Cold Sleep project, selecting 160 individuals infected with the Medusa virus for cryogenic preservation in a Scottish facility. This earned him a humanitarian public image, though skepticism surrounded his methods and motivations.
Vega's organization discovered Alice in Siberia following her initial Medusa contact and took her into custody. While his actions contributed to her suffering, the true nature and cruelty of Zeus—whose identity and objectives Vega did not know—later horrified him. During the catastrophic Level 4 outbreak, Vega sealed himself inside his private study.
In isolation, he recorded comprehensive logs detailing Medusa's extraterrestrial origin, its ability to manifest imagination into reality, and the events precipitating the outbreak. He concluded these recordings by asking Alice for forgiveness, acknowledging the consequences of his actions. Vega then committed suicide with a shotgun blast to the mouth. Survivors exploring the decaying facility later discovered his body.
