Description
Eishiro Sugata is a tall young man distinguished by his white hair and blue-green eyes. He consistently wears his Sorami High School uniform and large rectangular glasses, maintaining a neutral, calm expression. As president of the New World Discovery Club, he researches the "New World," Angeloids, and Synapse, aided by Nymph. His eccentric lifestyle sees him living in a riverside tent, owning no other clothes, and he frequently draws parallels to European explorers like Magellan and Columbus. His philosophical narrations open anime episodes, using historical figures to foreshadow events.

Born the second son of a politically influential family, Sugata idolized his older brother, sharing his passion for flight and gliders. A trivial argument before a test flight led Sugata to neglect a proper glider inspection; the detached wing caused his brother's fatal accident. Blamed for the death and disowned, Sugata watched his younger brother Yuugo become heir. This guilt drives his quest for the "New World" as atonement, motivating him to found the New World Discovery Club.

Intellectually gifted, Sugata solves advanced mathematics and rivals university scholars. He possesses significant survival skills, growing vegetables in the school garden and defending against bears and snakes. His combat ability matches childhood friend Mikako Satsukitane, whose family servants address him as "young master," reflecting their close but contentious dynamic. He often collaborates with Daedalus in Synapse, impressing its Master with his analytical prowess.

Sugata plays a pivotal role: witnessing the black hole anomaly over Sorami City, he invites Tomoki Sakurai to investigate, triggering Ikaros's arrival. He later deciphers Angeloid Transport Card functionality and shelters Astraea. In the final arc, he infiltrates Synapse to reprogram the Rule Obelisk, granting one additional wish. Presumed killed by Ikaros Melan during this mission, he is resurrected when Tomoki's wish restores normality.

His story extends beyond the main series. In the "Daisuki Desu!! Mahou Tenshi Cosmos" spin-off, he appears as a 20-year-old university student still exploring mysteries, now residing in an apartment. He features briefly in "Yūryō Bukken Mō Dame Sō," where Yuugo recognizes Hamuel's resemblance to Sugata's deceased brother, confirming their familial tie. Sugata contacts Yuugo to discuss the "New World," revealing his ongoing awareness of Synapse's secrets.

Sugata's relationships showcase loyalty and complexity. He tolerates Mikako's persistent, irritating advances and participates in Tomoki's misadventures, including peeping. Typically stoic, he displays vulnerability confronting his past, crying during the Synapse invasion and admitting his dream caused pain. His bond with Angeloids is significant; Ikaros regards him as "more important than her master," and he shelters Astraea while deducing her mission.
