Masanori Kagami teaches at Fujigaya Girls' Academy and advises the drama club, adopting a hands-off approach that encourages student independence while providing support for critical decisions. His relatively young age enhances his popularity among students, and he communicates directly, expressing thoughts plainly without filters.

He becomes engaged to Kazusa Sugimoto, an art teacher and former Fujigaya student who briefly taught at the academy. Their marriage deeply affects others, particularly Kazusa's younger sister Yasuko Sugimoto, who developed romantic feelings for Masanori during her own time as a Fujigaya student. Masanori recognizes Yasuko's emotions but deliberately downplays this awareness, enforcing boundaries and rejecting her advances.

Despite the emotional complications surrounding Yasuko's unresolved feelings, Masanori and Kazusa proceed with their marriage. Following the wedding, Yasuko leaves to study abroad in London.
