Description
Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old Japanese salaryman, worked as a general contractor before his untimely death. He lived independently, avoiding serious romance after three failed relationships and filling his solitude with hobbies like H-games—a testament to his resigned but practical pursuit of contentment. Colleagues respected his reliability, yet his dry, sardonic humor often cast him as enigmatic or harsh, masking a pragmatic worldview. Professionally, he streamlined tasks by focusing on core information, a habit that later influenced his reincarnated self’s strategic choices.

While shielding a junior coworker during a robbery, Satoru was stabbed mortally. In his final breaths, the World Language translated his subconscious desires—craving novelty and competence—into powers that shaped his rebirth as a slime in another realm. His human memories fused with the slime’s essence, forging Rimuru Tempest’s identity, which retained Satoru’s methodical work ethic, tactical pragmatism, and irreverent humor.

Satoru’s human guise resurfaced strategically in Rimuru’s missions. Investigating the Kingdom of Coleus, Rimuru adopted Satoru’s appearance and name, exploiting his former self’s unassuming demeanor to evade suspicion. This temporary shift underscored the enduring link between past and present identities. In alternate narratives, summoned replicas of Satoru’s form lacked Rimuru’s magic, contrasting human fragility with evolved prowess.

Unburdened by familial duties—deferred to his elder brother—Satoru’s name carried symbolic duality: “Satoru” (enlightenment) and “Mikami” (three/above), echoing themes of ascendant identity. Post-reincarnation, these motifs permeated Rimuru’s quest to forge an equitable society, guided by Satoru’s unmet earthly ambitions and balanced idealism.
