TV-Series
Description
Nobunaga Asakura is a supporting character in the light novel, manga, and anime series Haruka Nogizaka's Secret. He is a childhood friend of the protagonist Yuuto Ayase and attends the same private high school, Hakujo Academy, though he is in the class next to Yuuto's. Nobunaga has a cheerful and openhearted personality, earns very good grades, and is regarded by female students as a bishounen, or handsome young man. He stands about 163 centimeters tall, has short olive-green hair and green eyes, and his birthday is January 1.
Nobunaga is a hardcore otaku with an encyclopedic knowledge of Akihabara, the famous Tokyo district for anime, manga, and gaming culture. His passion for otaku hobbies is so deep and well-known that he has earned legendary status in several Akihabara establishments. At the Animate store, his enormous purchasing history has earned him the moniker Emperor Caesar, and he is one of only three people to possess a golden Animate card. In the maid café called @Home~Café, where Haruka once worked part-time, a gold-framed picture of Nobunaga shaking hands with the manager hangs in a central spot, with the caption Welcome home, our greatest master.
In the story, Nobunaga acts as the catalyst for the main plot. It is his request that Yuuto return a book to the school library that leads Yuuto to accidentally discover Haruka Nogizaka's secret: that the elegant and popular school idol is actually a devoted otaku. Nobunaga's motivations are driven by his own unapologetic love for otaku culture, and he wears his fandom proudly, in contrast to Haruka's need to keep her hobby hidden. He is a supportive friend to Yuuto and provides comic relief through his enthusiastic and sometimes over-the-top otaku behavior. He does not undergo a significant personal development arc over the course of the series, but his constant presence reinforces the theme of embracing one's interests without shame. His notable abilities include his academic excellence and his encyclopedic knowledge of otaku-related topics, as well as his social fame within the Akihabara subculture.
