Description
Gentō Nogizaka, patriarch of the Nogizaka family and father to Haruka and Mika, married into the family, adopting his wife Akiho's surname. His intimidating presence stems from yakuza-like speech and demeanor, though these actions primarily express excessive protectiveness toward his daughters. He initially opposes Haruka's otaku hobbies as incompatible with their status. Discovering her secret anime and manga collection, he confiscates it and deploys his private paramilitary unit "Hell Hound" to retrieve her from Yūto Ayase's home. Akiho consistently intervenes physically during such outbursts, overpowering and humbling him to establish her authority. Despite his aggression, he shows deep familial affection, purchasing an entire private island for Haruka's birthday. He remains hypervigilant about Haruka's relationship with Yūto, often misinterpreting interactions as threats to her chastity and pursuing Yūto relentlessly. His protectiveness includes physically testing Yūto's resolve, culminating in a brutal final fight where he assesses Yūto's commitment before tacitly accepting their bond. Comedic elements arise from his exaggerated reactions and suffering, enduring repeated physical comedowns from Akiho, often depicted with visual gags like sudden color desaturation. A notable incident involves Shiina Amamiya mistaking him for Yūto during a ski trip confession, leading to further retaliation from Akiho under misinterpretation. Gentō evolves from antagonist to grudging participant in family dynamics, highlighted during the finale where he administers a severe beating yet ultimately acknowledges Haruka and Yūto's bond.
