Description
Rigurd acts as Prime Minister of the Jura-Tempest Federation, being Rimuru Tempest's first named subordinate. He originated as the chief of a goblin village in the Great Jura Forest, governing under the protective aura of the sealed Storm Dragon Veldora. His village plunged into crisis when Veldora's aura vanished, triggering a direwolf attack that claimed the life of his unnamed eldest son defending the settlement. Rimuru's arrival coincided with this event, leading to the village's salvation.
Following Rimuru's defeat of the direwolf pack, Rigurd received a name alongside other goblins, evolving them from frail, elderly beings into robust hobgoblins. This transformation granted Rigurd a significantly younger, muscular physique comparable to a large human, shedding his prior reliance on a walking stick and inability to fully open his eyes, while also extending his lifespan.
Rigurd's administrative duties expanded progressively:
* Appointed "Goblin King" by Rimuru to oversee neighboring goblin villages.
* Served as captain of the goblin riders after the direwolves were tamed.
* Transitioned to Head of Security, reporting directly to Benimaru to ensure national safety.
* Ultimately promoted to Prime Minister, managing the federation's internal affairs, civil administration, citizenship, and diplomacy. He holds the highest authority after Rimuru, particularly during peacetime.
His personality blends stoicism with fervent loyalty to Rimuru, often manifesting as comic overexcitement in their interactions. He enjoys organizing festivals and feasts and demonstrates strong diplomatic skills encouraged by Rimuru. As a father, he exhibits emotional pride in his second son, Rigur—named after his deceased first son—frequently moved to tears by Rigur's achievements. Despite his administrative focus, Rigurd possesses latent combat strength equivalent to A-Rank monsters, exemplified when he effortlessly threw a 20-meter megalodon alongside Geld, though he remains unaware of his full capabilities.
Rigurd's family includes his late eldest son, killed by direwolves, and his second son, Rigur, who serves as Captain of the Goblin Riders and later Head of Security. Rigurd actively supports Rigur's development, showcasing their close familial bond.
