Description
Norio Tsuburaya, a 15-year-old high school student initially viewing himself as ordinary, experiences a life-altering transformation after a scooter accident awakens his heritage as a Madararui—a human descended from non-primate animals. Specifically, he emerges as a rare "Retrograde" born to Kakuen parents, rendering his existence exceptionally unusual.

Physically short and thin with a girlish appearance, he features brunette hair, large brown eyes, and expressive facial features. His soul manifests as a brown cat bearing a white belly and jaw, echoing his hybrid lineage. Timid and easily frightened, he reacts intensely to awkward or threatening scenarios, often flaring with anger when sensing manipulation. He cherishes friendships profoundly, enduring personal embarrassment to aid others.

His Retrograde status grants distinct abilities: perceiving others' souls to identify Madararui or Kakuen, and emitting pheromones that attract humans indiscriminately. Early on, he battles severe instability; minor stressors like loud noises or Kunimasa's scent involuntarily summon feline ears and tail, disrupting daily life and intimacy.

Development unfolds through rigorous training under Yonekuni Madarame, Kunimasa's half-brother. Progressing from fainting at minor provocations, he gradually masters soul manifestation, evidenced by diminished reactions to sudden physical contact. His relationship with Kunimasa shifts from conflict to mutual commitment. Following a dispute involving a love triangle with Kunimasa's half-brother, Norio embraces his role in bearing Kunimasa's child, cementing their bond. Despite growth, core traits persist: excitable responses to Kunimasa and lingering self-doubt.

Norio navigates intricate Madararui societal dynamics, particularly his integration into the Madarame family. Interactions extend beyond Kunimasa to alliances like his friendship with Teruhiko Kumakashi and adversarial figures such as Makio Madarame, Kunimasa's mother, who threatens his autonomy.
