Description
Mikaminohime Kikura, also called Kikuramikami no Hime, is a powerful Tayutai deity and patron goddess of the Yachimata Shrine, overseen by the Mito family. She was originally sealed inside a wooden relic on the grounds of Sosei Academy, which contained around 15,000 Tayutai spirits. When school expansion plans threatened the relic, she intervened.

She manifests before Yuri Mito, a shrine family descendant, as he attempts to relocate the relic to protect its spirits from demolition. She reveals the hostile history between humans and Tayutai and asks for his aid to stop the relic’s destruction or removal. An accidental disruption shatters the relic, freeing all the sealed Tayutai, including the dangerous trio known as the Three Mightiest.

After this event, Mikaminohime reincarnates into a human-like form as a young girl named Mashiro Mito, actively seeking peaceful coexistence between humans and Tayutai. In this guise, she lives with Yuri’s family and declares herself his wife. She has deep knowledge of spiritual powers and shows kindness and compassion toward humans, though at times she can be stubborn or sharp-tongued.

Her power depends on human faith and requires regular offerings and prayers to remain strong. She is also susceptible to certain magical seals, such as the demon-restricting seals once used by human sages for protection.

She works alongside Yuri and his allies to confront the freed Tayutai, especially the hostile Three Mightiest, aiming to safeguard the town and foster mutual understanding between species. Their efforts involve both conflict and negotiation, underscoring the difficulty of reconciling different values and ideals.

Following a major loss of power, her form temporarily shrinks. The means of restoring her full power and stature originally involved a process depicted explicitly in the initial adult game release, though later all-ages adaptations treat it through implication or off-screen events.
