Description
Peke, a compact spherical robot crafted by Lala Satalin Deviluke during her adolescence on Deviluke, functions as her mobile wardrobe and steadfast companion. Its smooth white chassis, marked by black spiral eyes and no distinct facial features, conceals advanced transformation protocols. In standby, it masquerades as Lala’s hairpin, ready to morph into preloaded or scanned outfits. Later capabilities reveal a humanoid form with pink hair and eyes, aligning with its clarified female identity despite early gendered references.
Designed to aid Lala in evading suitors and fleeing her home planet, Peke accompanies her to Earth, managing her wardrobe and delivering candid counsel. Though fiercely protective of Lala, the robot critiques others bluntly, initially dismissing Rito Yuuki as unworthy before gradually endorsing his bond with Lala—even disclosing her childhood secrets to strengthen their relationship.
Beyond apparel generation, Peke’s toolkit includes anti-gravity flight via wing projections, garment repair, object scanning, and temporary costume-based flight for allies like Mikan Yuuki. Prolonged activity drains its energy, dissolving transformed clothing until recharged. Demonstrating unexpected sentience, Peke resists memory wipes with visible distress, leaking tears that hint at emotional depth beyond programming.
While tempering Lala’s whims with reminders of responsibilities, Peke balances dutiful obedience with subtle autonomy, occasionally challenging her choices while prioritizing her happiness. This duality—programmed loyalty intertwined with emergent individuality—cements its role as both pragmatic aide and emotional anchor in Lala’s life.
