Description
Toru Kazama, known to his classmates as Kazama-kun, is a five-year-old friend and peer of Shinnosuke Nohara in the featured film. He is characterized by an impeccably groomed appearance, with styled dark blue hair and a typical outfit consisting of a sky-blue shirt with a white collar and orange shorts. His family background includes a strong attachment to his mother, Mineko Kazama, and an architect father who frequently works overseas, a situation that has led Kazama to admire his father's English skills and easygoing nature.

Kazama presents a studious and disciplined demeanor, prioritizing academics by actively participating in extracurricular activities such as juku, or cram school, and English conversation classes. He often acts like a know-it-all, a trait that can make him appear somewhat snobbish to his peers, as he frequently prioritizes his studies over play. Despite this refined and mature exterior, he secretly harbors an affection for magical girl anime and manga, particularly a series called Magical Girl Moe-P, a fact he goes to great lengths to hide from his friends. His motivations often revolve around maintaining his image as an elite and sophisticated individual, and he makes recurring attempts to gain acceptance within upper-class social circles, though these efforts are typically thwarted by the wild antics of his friend, Shinchan.

Kazama's primary role in the story is defined by his complex and deep friendship with Shinchan. While their interactions are frequently marked by bickering, teasing, and Kazama losing his composure over Shinchan's bizarre behavior, an underlying and powerful loyalty defines their bond. This is demonstrated most memorably in the plot of this specific film, where Shinchan's family prepares to move to Mexico. In a significant display of emotion, Kazama runs to a bridge to chase the train taking Shinchan to the airport, calling his friend's name with tears in his eyes, an action that reveals the depth of his care despite his usual denials that Shinchan is his best friend.

His key relationships extend to the other members of their friend group, known as the Kasukabe Defense Organization. Among them, he often takes on the role of a leader or caretaker, particularly with the more timid Masao Sato, whom he frequently comforts and assists. He also shares a close bond with his mother, and narrative hints have suggested a potential future romantic connection with Himawari, Shinchan's younger sister, as episodes have depicted them blushing and holding hands, much to Shinchan's humorous disapproval.

In terms of development, while his core personality remains consistent, his character is shown to balance his academic rigidity with hidden vulnerabilities. His notable abilities and strengths include a high level of proficiency in English, calligraphy, sports such as football and baseball, and mathematics. As a member of the Kasukabe Defense Organization, he participates in group adventures to protect their town, utilizing his intelligence and skills to help confront various conflicts alongside his friends.
