Maria Nanadan, princess of Havoniwa and daughter of Queen Flora Nanadan, attends Holy Land Academy with her competitive cousin, Lashara Earth XXVIII; the cousins constantly strive to outdo one another. Maria consistently uses the majestic plural, reflecting her royal status. Her devoted servant, Yukine Mare, accompanies her nearly constantly, sharing a bond that transcends a typical master-servant dynamic; Maria depends deeply on Yukine for information and support, demonstrating mutual reliance.
Raised as royalty, Maria lacks practical skills and avoids manual labor, often resting under an umbrella while others work and complaining of fatigue after minimal exertion. Early on, Maria deduces Kenshi Masaki pilots the white Sacred Mechanoid involved in Lashara's assassination attempt.
