Description
Leopard is a sentient artificial intelligence inhabiting an autonomous space colony, originally funded by the Shishido Conglomerate and built upon programming derived from Friedrich Otto Noblemain. His core mandate is protecting humanity, though his methods are eccentric and occasionally extreme.

Aristocratic and prone to delusions of grandeur, Leopard exhibits isolationist tendencies, preferring seclusion within his colony and showing discomfort when exposed externally. His personality blends narcissism with chaotic energy, manifesting in self-amused laughter, tea brewing, and internet browsing via borrowed devices. He names indigenous colony creatures after himself, such as Crocodilias Leopardus and Leoparda Octopada, and hosts a headless ghost in his library.

A critical aspect of Leopard's function is his dependence on Akiha Shishido. She must wield the golden firearm Arma Ignis Aureus to discharge the "Soul Shout" energy attack from his primary weapon, the Leopard Cannon. This creates a symbiotic relationship where Leopard guides Akiha toward self-awareness while relying on her for tactical operations. This interdependence deepens, exemplified by Leopard insisting on rescuing Akiha despite strategic futility.

Leopard possesses a darker history: 50 years prior to the main events, he dominated humanity as the "Prince of Darkness," wielding overwhelming power and instilling widespread fear. This alter ego emerged through possession by a cursed sword, resulting in blue eyes and autonomous operation of the Leopard Cannon without Akiha. During this period, he severely injured the warrior Benkei and recruited the antagonist Nami. His past actions created lasting friction with his "sibling" AIs, particularly Nerval, who considers him a rogue element.

Conflict with Nerval forms a core narrative arc. While Nerval seeks to assimilate humanity into a controlled utopia, Leopard opposes this despite sharing the goal of protection. Their ideological clash escalates to physical battles, including Nerval freezing Leopard's internal systems and later performing a "colony suplex" on him. The rivalry culminates in Leopard's dark side defeating Nerval independently, though Nerval ultimately redeems himself by saving Leopard and others.

Leopard also faces recurring threats from Benkei, who attempts to steal critical components called "mirrors." These encounters highlight Leopard's territorial defensiveness and tactical aggression, including surprise counterstrikes. His vulnerability to mental manipulation surfaces when Nervalists exploit Akiha, prompting interventions from allies like Imoko.

Character development is evident through his relationships. Initially self-absorbed, Leopard gradually demonstrates loyalty, particularly toward Akiha and the robot Imoko. When Imoko sacrifices herself to intercept an antimatter missile, Leopard's distress underscores his emotional evolution. His eventual reconciliation with Nerval—acknowledging their flawed approaches to humanity's safety—signifies a shift from isolation to collaboration.

Leopard's physical form includes a cuboid interface. He experiences human-like phenomena, such as luminescent blushes during emotionally charged interactions (e.g., an indirect kiss with Akiha), and suffers comedic injuries, like visible stitches after reprimands from Imoko.
