Alford Maquina, occasionally spelled Markina, is a human swordsman. Raised believing demons were inherently evil, this conviction fueled his extensive training to combat them, driven by a childhood aspiration to become a hero like his father. His ambitions included slaying a dragon and defeating the Demon King.

His core development stems from a pivotal forest encounter confronting Yuri and Conrad. Recruited by Velma for a dragon-slaying quest during this confrontation, Alford engages Conrad in a sword fight. This clash becomes transformative when Conrad reveals prior knowledge of Alford's father, directly challenging and dismantling Alford's deep-seated prejudices against demons, causing a significant shift in his ideals.

Following this change in perspective, Alford actively protects Yuri and Conrad from a rogue dragon. This act garners favor with the Demon King, signifying his transition from adversary to ally and demonstrating his willingness to defend those he once sought to destroy. He is noted as the son of a revered figure and wields his inherited holy sword.

Alford is a highly skilled swordsman, capable of effectively wielding his father's holy sword. His combat prowess allows him to fight evenly with accomplished warriors like Conrad and engage fully grown dragons in battle.

Physically, he possesses long brown hair parted in the middle, featuring short bangs and hair extending past his shoulders. His eyes are blue, and his attire consists of a blue undershirt beneath a red vest trimmed with white.
