Frank Latoine, a French piano student, resides in the same Parisian apartment complex as Shinichi Chiaki and Megumi Noda during their studies. He first befriended Nodame when they took entrance exams for Parisian music schools. Frank openly identifies as an otaku, passionately devoted to Japanese anime like *Shakugan no Shana* and the fictional series *Puri Gorota*, which Nodame also enjoys. His enthusiasm permeates his living space, filled with anime figurines and character-adorned clothing, and includes a dedicated recording system programmed to capture favorite broadcasts. This intense hobby often causes others, particularly women, to find him socially off-putting despite his fundamentally kind nature.

He developed a brief romantic interest in Nodame upon meeting her, but this faded after observing her intense anime fixation and her established devotion to Chiaki. Frank previously attended the same music school as Yunlong Li before transferring to the Conservatoire de Paris. This move was driven by his deep admiration for Professor Charles Auclair, under whom he briefly studied and greatly respected, hoping to learn from him again despite knowing students could not choose their teachers at the Conservatoire.
