Description
Nagisa Aragaki, initially a third-year student at Kitakomachi High School, serves as the captain of the girls' badminton club before advancing to Kanagawa Sports University as a student athlete. Standing 174 cm tall, she possesses short brown hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive mole below her left lip. During high school, she wears the standard Kitakomachi uniform with a third-year blue ribbon, transitioning between older orange-and-black practice wear and newer blue competition attire.

Initially irritable and strained, particularly towards coach Kentarou Tachibana, Nagisa dismisses his methods as half-baked. This attitude stems from a prolonged slump following a devastating 0-21, 0-21 loss to Ayano Hanesaki in the All-Japan Junior Championship, which shattered her confidence. Misinterpreting Kentarou’s intentions toward Ayano escalates her frustration, leading her to threaten quitting the club unless he avoids speaking to Ayano if Nagisa wins a practice match. She wins but does not enforce the bet, acknowledging her victory felt hollow. Similar conflicts arise when she perceives herself as being used to highlight Ayano’s abilities, causing her to briefly abandon practice. Nagisa eventually overcomes these issues through Kentarou’s guidance during a critical practice match, apologizing to her teammates for self-centered behavior and renewing her commitment to lead them to nationals.

As a player, Nagisa employs an offensive style centered around her powerful jumping smash, leveraging her exceptional physical abilities and world-class height. Her surprising athleticism enables explosive plays. However, she struggles with strategic limitations, particularly an inability to judge whether shots are in or out, often chasing everything indiscriminately. This habit strains her knees due to her height and weight. Her overreliance on raw power initially makes her vulnerable against all-rounded players like Ayano. Facing a significant deficit against Connie Christensen, she demonstrates mental resilience by learning to "scheme"—improving shot judgment and adapting tactics. This growth occurs despite her eventual retirement from the match due to Kentarou’s intervention, prioritizing the prevention of a career-ending knee injury.

Her competitive record includes defeating Ayano in a high-stakes betting match (21-18), winning the Inter High Preliminaries against opponents like Maki, Ishizawa Nozomi, and Ayano (2-1 in the final), and advancing in the Inter High until her match against Connie ends in retirement. Her development culminates in a major tournament final against Ayano, where she strategically avoids overusing smashes to drain Ayano’s stamina. After a grueling three-set match (16-21, 26-24, 21-19), Nagisa emerges victorious, symbolizing her growth into a tactically versatile player.

Following high school, she continues playing badminton at university. Her appearance evolves, with her hair styled straight in the epilogue, resembling rival Yuika Shiwahime, reflecting her ongoing journey as an athlete matured beyond earlier insecurities and physical limitations.
