Description
Amelia Ann McFly is the daughter of the criminal Gasback, born one year after he abandoned her mother to continue his activities. Gasback provided financial support and a protective energy-absorbing glove before leaving, though rival thieves later looted their home. Neighbors refused aid due to their association with Gasback, and doctors denied her fatally ill mother medical treatment for the same reason, leading to her death. On her deathbed, Amelia's mother bequeathed the glove, calling it a "precious secret."

Driven by revenge for her mother's death, Amelia became a bounty hunter primarily seeking to kill Gasback. At age 19, she traveled to Macca City upon learning of his planned robbery. She has maroon hair, blue eyes, and wears practical bounty hunter attire: a cowboy hat, tan long coat, light-colored blouse, black corset, and magenta jeans with dual belts.

Her personality is blunt, intolerant of lecherous men, and solitary. She experiences acute contact dermatitis—skin rashes—when touched by men, which she attributes to an allergy to "idiots," reinforcing her aversion to physical contact. Her single-minded vengeance makes her appear ill-tempered and reserved. She is combat proficient with a modified lever-action rifle in a "Mare's Leg" configuration and relies heavily on evasive kicks in close combat.

En route to Macca City aboard a sand steamer, she encountered Vash the Stampede. Initially grateful for his intervention against harassing bounty hunters, she became irritated by his persistent flirtations. During a drunken bar brawl where Vash protected bystanders by discreetly disarming combatants, she confided in him about her quest for vengeance.

Her confrontation with Gasback at Kepler's mansion was interrupted by Vash, who prevented her from shooting him. Learning Vash had saved Gasback 20 years earlier—indirectly causing her mother's suffering—she punched Vash and continued her pursuit. When Gasback stole Macca City's power plant, she joined the chase but prioritized killing him over safeguarding the plant, endangering civilians. After Vash appeared to die saving her, she reflected and concluded she was no better than Gasback, recognizing the collateral damage of her vengeance.

Partnering with Nicholas D. Wolfwood to recover the plant, she raided Gasback's hideout. When Gasback attempted to kill her during Vash's reappearance, her glove neutralized his energy weapon. Gasback recognized the glove as his creation, leading Amelia to reveal their familial relationship. Despite the opportunity, she chose not to kill him, adopting Vash's philosophy of preserving life. She later informed Vash of her intent to follow his example before departing.
