Description
Milk is a white-and-pink rabbit-like fairy from the Palmier Kingdom in *Yes! Pretty Cure 5*. She speaks with the verbal tic "~miru" and initially lacks the ability to transform into a human, unlike fellow fairies Coco and Nuts. Serving as a dedicated caretaker for the two princes, she displays a strict, no-nonsense attitude regarding their safety and responsibilities. Her early personality is marked by selfishness and greed, particularly in her distrust of the Pretty Cure team and frequent criticism of Nozomi Yumehara's leadership and clumsiness. Early interactions reveal jealousy when Coco pays attention to Nozomi, often sparking arguments over trivial matters like food, especially chocolate.
She engineers her first encounter by deliberately positioning herself as a "lost stuffed animal" in Nozomi's path. After being picked up, she hides in Nozomi's bag, eats her lunch, and later reveals herself at Natts House. There, she discloses Coco and Nuts' royal status while dismissing the Cures' protective capabilities, creating friction. Her actions frequently cause unintended problems, such as failing tasks at Natts House, getting captured by the villain Arachnea, or instigating arguments that damage group projects.
Milk gradually learns to trust the Pretty Cure, driven by a strong urge to assist them in battles. A pivotal moment occurs when Karen Minazuki sacrifices herself to protect Milk during a fight, forging a deep bond. Milk comes to admire Karen's maturity and grace, mirroring relationships like Nozomi-Coco or Komachi-Nuts.
In *Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!*, Milk discovers a glowing blue seed granting transformative abilities. Planting and nurturing it allows her to assume a human identity named Mimino Kurumi, a second-year transfer student at L'École des Cinq Lumières alongside Nozomi and Rin. The name "Mimino Kurumi" is a backward pun on "miruku no mimi" (Milk's ears), with her surname combining kanji for "beauty" (美), a repetition mark (々), and "field" (野), collectively meaning "beautiful field of walnuts". Despite her human form, her core personality remains unchanged, as noted by Nuts. She insists on being called "Kurumi" in this state and rarely reverts to her fairy form.
Kurumi's alter ego is Milky Rose, a warrior drawing power from the Blue Rose. She debuts in Episode 10 of *GoGo!*, saving the Cures while initially concealing her identity. To transform, she uses the Milky Palette device, declaring "Skyrose Translate!". Her design features wavy violet hair reaching her waist, a white-and-blue outfit with rose motifs, and a vine-like headdress. Her attacks include Milky Rose Blizzard, manipulating blue rose petals to envelop enemies, and the enhanced Milky Rose Metal Blizzard, activated using the Milky Mirror and Milky Note tools provided by Nuts. Prolonged use of her powers drains energy, forcing her back to fairy form.
In battles against Eternal, Milky Rose proves instrumental. She avoids petrification during the final confrontation—unmatched by her teammates—and retains her transformation device into adulthood. Her relationships evolve: she supports Coco's romance with Nozomi after relinquishing her own crush on him and maintains mutual respect with Nuts. She remains hostile toward the redeemed villain Bunbee due to past trauma.
In *Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~*, Kurumi appears as a 26-year-old adult. She initially works as a secretary in a corporate building, later becoming Prime Minister of the Palmier Kingdom. Her adult attire includes a mulberry dress suit, light gray blouse, and periwinkle heels, with her hair styled more neatly and secured by a light red hair tie. Alternate casual wear consists of a midnight blue dress with a brown belt and boots. She uses a golden-handled staff during diplomatic duties.
Additional trivia notes her representation by a blue rose (symbolizing "dreams come true" and "luck") in the *Pretty Cure All Stars Suite Flower Card Collection* and aquamarine (symbolizing "happiness") in the *Holding Pretty Cure Girls Collection*. She holds eighth place in two *Pretty Cure All Stars DX3* poll categories: "Pretty Cure most desired to emulate" and "Fairy most desired as a partner". She also delivers the 10th-anniversary congratulatory message in *HappinessCharge Pretty Cure!*.
