Description
Sonata Amamiya, born Sonata Kanzaki, achieved fame as a Prism Star renowned for her legendary Aurora Rising jump. Her childhood involved abandonment by her parents, resulting in homelessness until her late teens; she supported herself by washing dishes in exchange for food and shelter. Witnessing Kyoko Asechi become Prism Queen on television during middle school inspired Sonata to pursue Prism Shows. Without funds, she practiced independently and secured part-time work cleaning skate rinks to observe professionals.

She met Ryutaro Amamiya at a zoo's bear exhibit, married him, and took his surname. They had a daughter, Rizumu Amamiya. Despite happiness, Sonata grew increasingly fearful of losing her family due to her traumatic past. This anxiety intensified with guilt over Ryutaro abandoning his own career to support her success, which she blamed herself for. Roughly 12-13 years before Aurora Dream, Sonata abandoned her family, believing her Aurora Rising was "fake" and needing to discover its true meaning.

During her absence, Sonata lived in Russia, working at a circus. There, she met Kaname Chris, adopting her as an apprentice and daughter, training her to perform the "true" Aurora Rising. She isolated herself emotionally, refusing to acknowledge Rizumu as her daughter upon their first reunion and prioritizing Kaname's training over family reconciliation.

Her return to Japan coincided with the Prism Queen Cup. When Kaname failed the Aurora Rising during the competition, Sonata intervened, attempting to take her back to Russia. This deeply distressed Rizumu, who nonetheless persevered and successfully performed the Aurora Rising Final. This jump, imbued with Rizumu's emotional resolve, awakened Sonata's heart, facilitating their reconciliation. Sonata subsequently returned to her family, resuming her role as Ryutaro's wife and mother to both Rizumu and Kaname.

Later, in Dear My Future, Sonata and Ryutaro welcomed a new daughter. She also gained Hibiki Toudou as a son-in-law after his marriage to Rizumu, and Kanon Toudou as a daughter-in-law. A vision showed Sonata with this infant during Rizumu and Hibiki's honeymoon. Her legacy endured in the Prism Star world, evidenced by a statue commemorating her Aurora Rising in the Rainbow Live continuity and her inclusion in the broader "Pretty All Friends" project celebrating the franchise's characters.
