TV-Series
Description
Sonata Amamiya, born Sonata Kanzaki, endured a harsh childhood marked by parental abandonment and homelessness. She survived her late teens by washing dishes at a restaurant in exchange for food and shelter. Witnessing Kyoko Asechi become Prism Queen on television ignited her dream to become a Prism Star. Unable to afford lessons, she taught herself and worked part-time cleaning skate rinks to study professionals. Her natural talent rapidly propelled her to rival Kyoko, forging a defining competitive dynamic.

She met Ryutaro Amamiya before the bear exhibit at a zoo, a location later significant to their daughter Rizumu. After his proposal, she took the surname Amamiya. They had Rizumu, and Ryutaro abandoned his own stardom dreams to become a homemaker, a choice that instilled deep guilt and unease in Sonata. Despite loving her family, her traumatic past fueled a fear her happiness was temporary. Performing the legendary Aurora Rising jump to win Prism Queen status convinced her the execution was "fake." Seeking its "true meaning," she abandoned her family thirteen years before Aurora Dream, leaving Rizumu with Ryutaro.

Sonata relocated to Russia and joined a circus. There she encountered orphan Kaname Chris, adopting her as both apprentice and daughter. She rigorously trained Kaname to master the Aurora Rising, believing this would fulfill her quest. Her Russian life included a period with dyed blonde hair and modest living conditions, as seen in her early interactions with Kaname.

During Aurora Dream, Sonata returned to Japan but initially denied her relationship with Rizumu. Her return coincided with Rizumu's struggle to master the Aurora Rising. At the Prism Queen Cup, after Kaname failed the jump, Sonata tried to take her back to Russia. Rizumu then successfully performed the Aurora Rising Finale. This feat, combined with emotional pleas from Rizumu and friends, broke Sonata's emotional barriers, leading to family reconciliation. She resumed her role as Ryutaro's wife and mother to Rizumu and Kaname.

In Dear My Future, set three years later, a flashback showed Sonata holding an unnamed baby, confirming a second child with Ryutaro. She was also depicted watching a Prism Show alongside Ryutaro, Serena, and Kanon, solidifying her family reintegration. Her legacy as the original performer of the Aurora Rising remained culturally significant, evidenced by a statue of her mid-jump displayed in later series events.
