Description
Myne, also known as Malty S Melromarc, is a central antagonist in the second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero. She is the former first princess of Melromarc who initially used the alias Myne Sophia to ingratiate herself with the Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani, before betraying him by falsely accusing him of assault, stealing his belongings, and leaving him socially ruined. Her background includes being the eldest daughter of King Aultcray and Queen Mirellia, but due to her reckless and cruel behavior, her younger sister Melty was chosen as heir to the throne. This loss of status fuels her deep-seated motivations: a desire for power, revenge against those she perceives as standing in her way, and an unyielding need to manipulate others to regain her former position. Her personality is defined by pathological lying, narcissism, selfishness, and a complete lack of empathy. She delights in deception and betrayal, using her beauty and charm to weaponize the trust of others, particularly the Spear Hero Motoyasu Kitamura, whom she repeatedly exploits. In season two, after being disowned and stripped of her royal title, Myne becomes a wanted criminal. She continues to sow chaos, betraying the other three heroes and attempting to assassinate her own sister. Her relationships are consistently adversarial: she harbors an intense hatred for Naofumi, whom she blames for her downfall, and views Raphtalia and Melty as obstacles to be eliminated. Despite her cunning, Myne shows little genuine development, remaining stubbornly vindictive and refusing to learn from her defeats. Her notable abilities are modest in direct combat—she wields a sword with limited skill and commands fire and wind magic, such as creating fireballs or gusts of air. However, her true strength lies in her unparalleled talent for manipulation, deceit, and psychological warfare, which she employs to turn allies against one another and escape accountability. In the second season, her role is that of a persistent secondary villain whose actions continue to drive conflict and test the resilience of the protagonists.
