Description
Azusa Kinose is a first-year Space Department student at Seigetsu Academy, born under the Sagittarius sign. He has black hair with straight bangs that cover his forehead and striking violet eyes. His slim, pale frame stands 166 cm tall and weighs 51 kg. He is often seen in his properly worn school uniform and changes into a hakama for archery club activities.
Outwardly, Azusa presents himself as cocky, confident, and assertive, readily declaring himself a natural genius. He refers to himself using "boku." Beneath this self-assured exterior, however, he harbors deep insecurities about his abilities and struggles to commit his heart fully to anything, a conflict that sometimes causes his performance to falter. He displays a flirtatious nature, especially toward Tsukiko Yahisa, much to the annoyance of his archery club teammate Ryunosuke Miyaji. Despite their frequent arguments, Azusa and Ryunosuke share a close bond.
As a newcomer to the school's archery club, he had previously met Tsukiko Yahisa and inspired her to improve by telling her she possessed a beautiful form and a certain spark. Witnessing her archery had, in turn, motivated him to join the club himself.
Shortly before an inter-high competition, his underlying insecurities and lack of full dedication lead him into a significant performance slump. Through support and encouragement, primarily from Tsukiko, he comes to understand the importance of cultivating multiple skills and applying genuine effort. This allows him to overcome his slump and secure victory in the competition.
He is the cousin of another student, Tsubasa Amaha, and their personalities stand in sharp contrast. After his time at Seigetsu Academy, Azusa moves to America to further his studies. He eventually becomes the youngest person to achieve worldwide fame as an astronaut.
In a continuation of his story, he promises to follow Tsukiko after he graduates high school to continue their relationship. His path involves themes of both romantic and personal maturation.
