TV-Series
Description
Maho Nitori, one year older than her sibling Shuichi, begins the story as a sixth-grader with a sharp focus on fashion, dedicating her resources to cultivating a stylish wardrobe. Her ambition leads her to audition for a modeling agency to connect with her idol, Maiko, securing a career as a teen model. Through this role, she gains confidence, enjoys public admiration, and forms close bonds with fellow models Anna Suehiro and Tamaki Sato.
Outspoken and rebellious, Maho clashes with her parents, vocalizing her goals without seeking their approval. Her loud demeanor contrasts with Shuichi’s reserved nature. Though fiercely loyal, her limited understanding of their gender identity fuels conflict: she dismisses Shuichi’s cross-dressing as a phase or illness, reacting with anger upon discovering them in her clothes. Her fear of social judgment drives protective yet harmful actions, including mocking Shuichi or avoiding school when they attend in feminine attire.
Over time, Maho navigates a romantic relationship with classmate Riku Seya, confessing her feelings and embracing typical teenage romance challenges, including defensiveness when Shuichi probes their intimacy. Later, she pressures Shuichi to abandon cross-dressing to preserve a "normal" relationship with Anna, only to face rejection when Anna supports Shuichi’s identity. This sparks a strained but evolving reconciliation between Maho and Anna.
Maho’s perspective on Shuichi fluctuates, occasionally acknowledging their "cute and feminine" appearance during a shared modeling opportunity. Her journey mirrors a tug-of-war between societal norms and familial loyalty, balancing protective instincts with anxieties over acceptance.
The name "Maho," rooted in Japanese meanings tied to water and travel, subtly contrasts her terrestrial struggles, echoing the tension between her aspirations and environmental constraints.
