Description
Hild rules Hell with the official title of Daimakaichō (Great Demon World Leader), establishing her as Niflheim's most powerful demon, though her half-goddess, half-demon daughter Urd eventually rivals her strength. Her lineage is significant as Urd's mother, stemming from a past romantic relationship with Tyr, the Almighty ruler of Heaven. This union resulted in Urd's hybrid nature but also triggered a curse from the Ultimate Force: Hild and Tyr are fated to die if they ever meet again.

Physically, Hild possesses silvery-white hair and purple eyes. She often wears ornamental bands on her arms and legs, functioning as power limiters akin to goddesses' earrings. These restraints contain her immense magical energy, primarily manifesting as control over elemental forces like fire and electricity. She projects miniature avatars, such as a child form, retaining a fraction of her power to influence events on Earth while her true body remains in Hell, mirroring goddesses' abilities to split into manifestations.

Hild's personality blends superficial charm with calculated ruthlessness. She presents herself as cheerful and affectionate, embracing characters like Keiichi or Urd. Beneath this façade, she is highly manipulative, strategic, and merciless, favoring psychological tactics over direct magical confrontation. She avoids spells when possible, exploiting minions like the demon Mara or leveraging systemic rules such as the Doublet System—a cosmic safeguard linking god and demon lives—to achieve goals without bloodshed. Despite her antagonistic role, she demonstrates genuine, albeit complex, maternal concern for Urd, even as Urd rejects her and aligns with Heaven's goddesses. Hild's schemes occasionally target Belldandy, such as implanting a demonic familiar within her in an attempt to corrupt her purity, though this plan fails.

Her key involvements include her first appearance to reverse a curse on the goddess Peorth, whom Hild punishes for underestimation by briefly freezing her. Later, she is overthrown and imprisoned during Hagall's rebellion. From imprisonment, she orchestrates her escape by deploying a pre-planned miniature avatar to collaborate with Keiichi and the Norns, leveraging Keiichi's courage to regain control of Niflheim. Though her direct appearances are sporadic, her influence persists through proxies and long-term machinations aimed at challenging Heaven's order, partly driven by resentment over the forced separation from Tyr and restrictions imposed by cosmic forces like the Ultimate Force.

Hild's character development subtly reveals layers beyond her demonic sovereignty. Her backstory with Tyr contextualizes her defiance of divine systems, framing her as a figure constrained by cosmic laws she views as unjust. Her relationship with Urd remains strained yet nuanced, reflecting persistent emotional investment in her daughter's choices and loyalties.
