Created in 2710 by Madame President using advanced robotics, Himeko/Toto is an android-human hybrid, a revival of ancient Japan's Queen Himiko, built for an undisclosed purpose. Fleeing her creator's control, she encounters a white deer and teenager Shinichi during her escape. To hide her identity from Shinichi and evade pursuit, she alters her appearance to resemble an ordinary teenage girl, adopting the alias "Toto". Exploring the futuristic city of Nara during its 2000th-anniversary celebrations with Shinichi, she begins developing genuine emotions and desires, including nascent romantic feelings for him, despite her artificial origins.
