Description
Axel Almar holds the rank of lieutenant in the Shadow-Mirror organization, reporting directly to Vindel Mauser while maintaining a romantic involvement with Lemon Browning. He primarily pilots the Soulgain mecha but has operated units like the Ashsaviour, Laz Angriff, and Vysaga across different timelines. Originally an Earth Federation Army member, Axel defected to Shadow-Mirror over ideological clashes fueled by his fierce rivalry with Beowulf, whom he blamed for his home dimension’s destruction—a rivalry later extended to Kyosuke Nanbu, Beowulf’s multiverse counterpart.

During a dimensional transposition mission in *Super Robot Wars Advance*, Axel suffered amnesia from an accident, adopting a cheerful, flirtatious persona rejected by female allies. Dubbed "Ahoseru" or "Silly Axel" by fans, he fought alongside Shadow-Mirror’s enemies. After regaining his memories and confronting Vindel, Axel rejected the organization’s methods, betrayed it, and aided in its downfall. He survived a self-detonation attempt, halted an asteroid impact using Vindel’s Zweizergain, and endured near-fatal exposure in deep space before rescue.

In *Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2*’s non-protagonist narratives, Axel remained loyal to Shadow-Mirror, securing its dimensional escape while dueling Beowulf alone. Arriving later in a new universe, he fixated on defeating Kyosuke (mistaking him for Beowulf), displaying ruthlessness and contempt for artificial humans—especially Lemon’s W-Series bioroids. During the Balmar White Star assault, W16 Echidna Iisaki sacrificed herself to save him, an act he dismissed with disgust. Challenged by Lamia Loveless over his obedience to Vindel, Axel asserted his allegiance was voluntary before perishing in an explosion.

*Original Generations* expanded his antagonism, revealing Axel witnessed Beowulf’s corruption by Einst entities and sought to prevent similar dimensional ruin. His disdain for artificial humans softened; he acknowledged Lamia’s defiance and expressed regret over Echidna’s sacrifice. Post-Shadow-Mirror’s collapse in *Original Generation Gaiden*, Axel drifted near death in space until merging with Einst Alchemie, whose survival instincts preserved him. Rescued by the Cry Wolves squadron, he recovered over months, later aiding the Earth Federation Army by freeing a brainwashed Lamia via Code: DTD and battling threats like Duminuss and Dark Brain alongside former foes. This earned him provisional trust before departing to explore other dimensions.

His journey led to the Endless Frontier universe in *Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED*, where dimensional travel again induced amnesia, reviving his "Ahoseru" persona. He fought alongside Alchemie against Lamalices, encountering Haken Browning and Aschen Broedel. Upon memory restoration, Axel offered Haken details about Lemon’s fate—which Haken declined—before returning to his home universe and joining the *Kurogane* crew. During *The Moon Dwellers* conflicts, he investigated Fury and Gadisword threats, linking Lamalice reappearances to Dark Brain Army’s Debudabide and enabling Sanger Zonvolt’s return.
