Nobutoshi Canna is a veteran Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer born Nobutoshi Hayashi on June 10, 1968, in Shinagawa, Tokyo. He is affiliated with Aoni Production and began his career in entertainment as a child actor at the age of three, appearing in commercials and short films before transitioning to voice acting in the early 1990s. He adopted the stage name Nobutoshi Canna at the start of the year 2000 as a way to mark a new beginning in his career.
Canna's breakthrough role came in 1994 when he was cast as the passionate singer Basara Nekki in the anime Macross 7, a performance that established him as a leading voice actor. He has since portrayed a wide range of characters, demonstrating his versatility across genres. One of his most iconic roles is that of the mercenary Guts in the 1997 Berserk anime series.
