Description
Makoto Waltz Seiga is a major antagonist in the anime Guilty Crown. He holds the rank of major within the GHQ Anti-Bodies, an elite unit tasked with containing the Apocalypse Virus. His appearance is distinctive: he wears clown-like makeup and has a prosthetic left eye, giving him an eccentric and unsettling demeanor. He has medium-length purple hair and red eyes. Seiga is known for being exceptionally sharp and cunning. He is a master manipulator who can extract information from almost anyone through charm, intimidation, or deception. He enjoys casual conversation and spending time playing games on his cellphone, which contrasts with his ruthless efficiency. His motivations revolve around his role within GHQ; he is deeply involved in the organization's operations and pursues his own agenda to gain power and knowledge, particularly concerning the Void Genome and the resistance group Funeral Parlor. He is a persistent threat to the protagonist Shu Ouma and his allies, often appearing to advance GHQ's schemes and to capture or eliminate key individuals. Seiga's key relationships are primarily adversarial: he opposes Funeral Parlor and its leader Gai Tsutsugami, and he directly confronts Shu Ouma on multiple occasions. He also works alongside other GHQ figures such as Shuichiro Keido, though his ultimate loyalties remain self-serving. Throughout the story, Seiga remains a calculating and relentless foe, but he is eventually cornered by Shu. In the final confrontation, Shu uses Yahiro's Void shears to sever Seiga's life, ending his threat. Among his notable abilities are his sharp investigative skills, his capacity for psychological manipulation, and his direct authority within the military chain of command. His Void, the physical manifestation of his psyche, is a pistol that can fire bullets capable of disrupting the Voids of others, rendering them unusable. This ability makes him especially dangerous in combat, as he can neutralize the primary weapons of his opponents. Seiga is a cold, intelligent, and charismatic antagonist whose actions drive much of the conflict in the series.
