Description
"AIR TV" is a 12-episode anime series based on the visual novel by Key. The narrative revolves around Yukito Kunisaki, a traveling performer who seeks the "Girl in the Sky," a figure from his family's legends. His journey leads him to a small coastal town where he meets Misuzu Kamio, a peculiar and lonely girl with a mysterious illness. Yukito stays with Misuzu and her adoptive mother, Haruko, while continuing his search. Misuzu's condition worsens over time, and her dreams reveal fragments of a past life connected to a tragic legend involving a winged girl named Kanna.

The story intertwines the present with flashbacks to a distant past, where Kanna, a girl with wings, is imprisoned and isolated due to her unique nature. Her only companion is Ryuuya, a guard who befriends her. Their bond grows, but Kanna's fate is tied to a curse that affects her lineage. In the present, Misuzu's connection to Kanna becomes evident as her dreams and memories blur the lines between her identity and Kanna's. Yukito discovers that Misuzu is a reincarnation of Kanna, and her illness is a manifestation of the curse.

As the narrative progresses, Yukito learns that the curse can only be broken by severing the ties between Misuzu and Kanna's past. This involves confronting the emotional and spiritual burdens carried across generations. The series explores themes of sacrifice, love, and the cyclical nature of suffering, culminating in a bittersweet resolution where Misuzu's fate is sealed, but her spirit finds peace.

Other characters include Minagi Tohno, a stoic girl with a troubled family life, and Kano Kirishima, a cheerful yet enigmatic girl who harbors her own secrets. Their stories intersect with Yukito and Misuzu's, adding depth to the overarching narrative. The series balances its supernatural elements with poignant human drama, creating a layered and emotionally resonant tale.

A lone puppeteer named Yukito Kunisaki arrives in a small seaside town, carrying a wooden puppet passed down from his mother. He sets up his performance in a quiet shopping district, but only a few children stop to watch and leave without paying. A young girl named Misuzu Kamio spots him and becomes fascinated by the puppet. She enthusiastically mimics its gestures and later invites Yukito to her home, though he declines. That evening, Yukito sleeps outdoors near a seawall, and Misuzu finds him again. She brings him a meal and insists he stay with her family to earn money by performing for her. He agrees after she mentions a room where he can sleep. At the Kamio house, Misuzu’s aunt, Haruko, reluctantly allows Yukito to stay temporarily in exchange for chores and entertainment. The next day, Misuzu drags Yukito to the beach, where she talks about her recurring dream of flying above the town. Yukito performs a more elaborate puppet show, and Misuzu watches with unguarded wonder. Afterward, Haruko confronts Yukito privately, warning him that Misuzu becomes dangerously fixated on people she likes and that he should not take advantage of her. Yukito remains guarded but begins to suspect a connection between Misuzu’s obsession with the sky and the purpose his mother entrusted to him. When he tries to probe her dreams, Misuzu laughs nervously and evades the question, then suddenly runs off, leaving Yukito more convinced that she holds the key to his search.
