Description
Tatsu Shimano presents a stark duality. As a high school student, he builds gunpla and plays guitar, appearing calm, softspoken, and humble, especially while mentoring Haru Irei and Kenta Sakazaki in gunpla modification and strategy. However, during gunpla battles, he transforms into a bloodthirsty, sadistic combatant focused solely on victory.
He pilots the GPB-06F Super Custom Zaku F2000, a heavily customized MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type. It features added armor and weapons from other Zaku II kits, assembled with putty – a critical weakness. The name "F2000" is a pun implying it is "1000 times stronger" than the base model.
Recruited by Axis Hobby Shop's manager, Tatsu becomes Haru's second opponent, challenging Haru and Kenta in a 2-on-1 battle. He initially overwhelms them with heavy firepower and close combat, severing the legs of Kenta's Byaku Shiki using a custom heat hawk pole. Yet, his aggressive tactics and the Zaku's structural flaw – armor cracking under high-speed maneuvers due to the putty's weak bond – lead to his defeat. After Kenta damages the Zaku with a clay bazooka, Haru exploits the opening for victory. Post-battle, Tatsu reverts to his calm self, acknowledges the lesson about avoiding putty, and congratulates the pair.
Later, he participates in the Gunpla Battle Championship, destroying a Gundam GP03 after its battle with a Zaku II. His consistent combat style involves overwhelming opponents with ranged attacks to lure them into close range, finishing them with unconventional melee weapons – a tactic resembling other Gundam characters with similar split personalities.
