Description
Born Izaz in Slovakian slums, The Darkness Zazie endured extreme poverty alongside his twin servants. This forced them to sell their physical beauty to wealthy mazoku for necessities, an exploitation by humans and mazoku alike that solidified his resentment. He concluded all oppressors deserved destruction.
He adopted the "Zazie" persona, masking his vengeful nature with a playful, mischievous facade, often using affectionate nicknames. His manipulations included tricking Eolus into battling Dan using a selective telling of the Icarus myth, leading to Eolus's exile. Later, he proposed a Triple Alliance with Barone and Duc, ostensibly to protect Queen Gilfam while secretly plotting against them.
His schemes escalated: spying on Barone and Dan, he leaked their confidential meeting about the 12 Zodiac X-Rares to Rugain. This betrayal caused Barone's public disgrace and the loss of his territory, Rome, which Zazie claimed. He solidified control by easily defeating Barone's loyal follower, Zack, in a card battle.
To incite rebellion against the queen, Zazie spread false rumors that the Zodiac X-Rares would only save select mazoku. He brainwashed Duc into assassinating Queen Gilfam, framing Dan and Barone for the murder. Amidst the chaos, he trapped former ally Geraid and sacrificed him, along with Duc's squad members, using their souls to create the powerful X-rare card, The SnakeMasterDeity Asklepiooze. He later used this card to defeat Barone, turning the mazoku populace against him.
His final confrontation occurred in Slovakia. He trapped Rugain and Queen Gilfam, forcing Dan into a high-stakes card battle. During the duel, Zazie's mask broke, revealing his true identity as Izaz. After recounting his past, he was defeated by Dan. Dan invited him to witness the effort to save Earth at the pole; Rugain and Gilfam urged him to aid in rebuilding Slovakia. In the epilogue, he appeared in the audience during Barone's speech, indicating survival without confirmed redemption.
Zazie's card battling style evolved: initially using a purple deck, he later switched to a blue deck focused on destruction tactics, wielding The SnakeMasterDeity Asklepiooze effectively. In the manga adaptation *Brave X*, his role diverged: he captured Mai for her ability to locate the Zodiac X-Rares, while the conflict centered on battling mazoku rather than preventing Earth's reset.
