Description
Rugain, titled "The Sorcerer," is a blue-haired mazoku distinguished by short yellow horns, fin-like ears, and a tail. His blue-and-white garb symbolizes both his magical prowess and ancestral lineage. Driven by unwavering loyalty to his father, Duc, he dedicates himself to Duc’s vision of harmony between humans and mazoku.

Born to Duc and Shima, Rugain was groomed to inherit their territory’s leadership. After Dan Bashin defeated Duc, Rugain’s vengeful ambitions were halted by Duc’s demand to settle the conflict alone. During this period, he encountered Youth, a human card battler, engaging him in dialogue that transcended racial tensions through their mutual passion for the game—a testament to Rugain’s belief in unity.

He later challenged Barone of the Triple Alliance, doubting his loyalty to Duc. Though defeated when his key card, *The GreatAngelia Sophia*, was destroyed, Rugain publicly exposed Barone’s collaboration with Dan, resulting in Barone’s territorial forfeiture. Following Duc’s imprisonment, Rugain inherited the Zodiac X-rare *CancerBushin Cancerd*. After another loss to Dan, he surrendered the card and aided Dan’s quest for the remaining X-rares. When Duc resurfaced as a brainwashed cyborg, Rugain confronted him but was spurned. He later prioritized Dan’s escape over his father’s corrupted plans.

As Duc declared conquest over their homeland, Rugain vowed to reclaim their legacy. Retreating temporarily with family and followers, he reunited with allies like Zack, inviting him to continue Duc’s original mission. Post Dan’s final victory and Duc’s memory restoration, Rugain rejoined his reunited family.

In the epilogue, he attended Barone’s speech alongside his parents and Zack, accepting Duc’s transition of leadership. His deck, specializing in low-cost magic spirits, hinged on *The GreatAngelia Sophia* until its destruction. Rugain’s battle losses against Barone and Dan chart his growth from vengeful heir to a strategist valuing reconciliation.

His arc shifts from personal vengeance to upholding Duc’s ideals, advancing interspecies peace. Interactions with Youth and Zack reflect his balance of mazoku pride and pragmatic alliances, solidifying his role as a bridge between divided worlds.
