Description
Saori Makishima, alias Saori Bajeena, is a wealthy 15-16-year-old girl standing 180 cm tall. She switches between two distinct personas: her refined self and the enthusiastic otaku "Saori Bajeena," signaled by thick glasses, a yellow bandanna, denim pants, a green plaid shirt, and twin ponytails. This Bajeena identity sprang from her desire to forge friendships independently, masking her innate shyness. Her refined persona dominates online communication, while Bajeena's in-person speech is cheerful, ending in "-de gozaru" with specific honorifics.
A significant conflict with her older sister, Kaori, fueled Saori's actions. Kaori's abrupt departure and dissolution of their otaku group "Secret Garden" felt like abandonment, motivating Saori to create her own community, "Otaku Girls Unite!," encouraged by friend Kanata Kurusu, who gifted Saori her signature glasses. Saori aimed to prove her independence to Kaori through this group.
As moderator of "Otaku Girls Unite!," Saori organized an offline meeting. Observing Kirino Kousaka and Ruri Gokou (Kuroneko) struggling socially, she facilitated an "after party" for them, inviting Kirino's brother Kyousuke Kousaka and cementing their friendship circle. She later aided Kyousuke in navigating Kirino's otaku secret, such as sending a package containing R-18 doujinshi that nearly exposed Kirino's hobby. Saori also orchestrated a Summer Comiket trip to mend Kirino and Kyousuke's strained relationship.
Saori deeply values friendship, shown by her anger when Kirino left for America without informing the group. She consistently mediates conflicts within the circle, especially between Kirino and Kuroneko, prioritizing group harmony. Her wealth allows extravagant spending on otaku hobbies, though her Bajeena persona downplays her status to foster genuine connections. While her relationship with Kyousuke remains platonic in the core series, a visual novel spin-off features a romantic route where they marry and have a daughter named Tomoka.
Saori reconciles with Kaori after resolving their past misunderstanding. She appears briefly in crossover media like *Eromanga Sensei* and *Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai*, maintaining her role within the friend group. The alias "Bajeena" references Quattro Bajeena from *Zeta Gundam*, aligning with her fandom for the parody series *Justeen*.
