Description
Futaba Kon is a female high school student initially mistaken by Hotori Arashiyama for a younger boy due to her short blonde hair, slight build, and tomboyish appearance. She is one year older than Hotori and attends the same high school. Her birthday is September 8, she stands 153 cm tall, and has blood type A.
Kon displays a laid-back, anti-social personality with few friends at school. Despite her seemingly uncaring and non-conformist exterior, she holds deep devotion for her parents and forms a strong friendship with Hotori after their initial misunderstanding. She lives alone in a small, well-equipped apartment near the shopping district with her beloved pet cat Koban. Hotori frequently visits her there.
Her temperament is marked by openness and self-confidence, lacking social anxiety. She approaches others without reservations, enabling easy formation of new friendships. However, she exhibits quick anger when displeased, though this is usually short-lived, and her generally positive, chummy attitude quickly resurfaces, contributing to her popularity at school.
Kon's life centers on two passions: table tennis and bass guitar. She ranks among the top players in her school's table tennis club, frequently competing against Harue Haribara. During middle school, Kon, Haribara, and Toshiko Tatsuno were regarded as the club's strongest players. A pivotal incident occurred when her senior Zanari, jealous of Kon's skills and selection for the team lineup, attempted to injure her before a match. This betrayal caused Kon to withdraw socially until Hotori's persistent friendship helped her overcome this barrier.
Her second passion is playing bass guitar; she excels at it and could easily join a band. Her unshakable confidence eliminates stage fright, allowing her to sing without hesitation. She once tricked Haribara into learning drums by suggesting it would improve her table tennis footwork coordination.
Kon's relationship with Hotori deepens significantly after their rocky first encounter involving Koban. She becomes a regular visitor to the Seaside maid café where Hotori and Tatsuno work. Her family consists of her father, Densuke Kon, and Koban.
Throughout the series, Kon evolves from a withdrawn individual into someone who values deep friendships, especially with Hotori. Her loyalty shows in actions like comforting Hotori after a beach mishap and covering for her when she loses her swimsuit top. The narrative explores alternate scenarios where Kon's life diverges, such as working at Seaside and growing closer to Haribara in a universe without Hotori.
