Rieka Yazawa
Description
Rieka Yazawa is the stage name of a former Japanese voice actor, born on July 30, 1987, in Saitama Prefecture. She was affiliated with the talent agency Apte Pro during her career in the industry.
Yazawa began her path to voice acting by participating in an audition for the Di Gi Charat franchise in 2008 under the name Rieka Yazawa. Although she did not win the role she originally auditioned for, her performance led to her being cast in a different role within the series, marking her entry into professional voice work. She later adopted the hiragana stage name Rieka Yazawa, as she found the kanji version of her given name was often misread.
Her most prominent role came in 2010 when she voiced Futaba Kon in the television anime series And Yet the Town Moves, also known as SoreMachi. In addition to her voice performance for the main character, she also contributed vocals to the series' ending theme song. Her other anime roles during this period included parts in series such as Maria Holic Alive and Hen Zemi, as well as a role in the Di Gi Charat franchise. Beyond anime, her portfolio included performances in drama CDs, video games like the online game Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, and radio programs. She also began a solo artist project under the name Rieka in the summer of 2010.
In March 2012, at the age of 24, Yazawa announced her retirement from voice acting. She explained on her blog that she had recently completed graduate school and had decided to pursue a career in a field related to her academic studies. Following her departure from the entertainment industry, she became a lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration at the Japan University of Economics.
